Before your skin check

-
A skin check takes time – allow yourself 45-60 minutes for your appointment
-
Please don’t wear make-up, nail polish or fake tan to your appointment
-
If you have long hair, please have it tied back for your appointment
-
The genital area is not routinely examined however if you have self-examined and would like this area checked, please advise us prior to your appointment to organise a chaperone in order to examine the area
-
You will be required to undress down to your underwear. A gown will be provided to those that would like one
-
A skin check includes head-to-toe examination using a light source and a dermatoscope, a special device that allows the user to see the structures within the skin. Any suspicious lesion or those that require monitoring will be photographed using an intelligent dermatology software for documentation and analysis of skin lesions
-
You are welcome to point out any particular lesions of concern during your screening
-
Any findings will be discussed at the end and a report will be emailed. You will also be able to create an account with the MoleScope app and gain access to any images taken during your appointment
-
If any treatment is required, a referral can be made to the appropriate clinicians and follow up will be arranged
- If you have not filled in the consent and patient information form prior to your appointment, please arrive 5 minutes early to your allocated time to do so
